Talika Lipocils Eye Lash Conditioning Gel

As an over 40, it's a bit frustrating that everything is starting to get thinner on me except my thighs. How is this fair? Wait, is that my Mother I hear saying, "whoever said life was fair?" My lashes have really never been super-powered, so I have decided to take action. I am armed with Talika Lipocils Eye Lash Conditioning Gel.  It's applied to clean lashes twice a day prior to your mascara.  It's been a week now and I think this product might be a keeper.  It acts as a good base or primer for my everyday mascara.  I am experiencing no irritation thus far.  I don't have the money or interest in getting any sort of lash extensions, so I am hoping this product will deliver. It will be interesting to see what a month of testing will result in.

More information is available here regarding ingredients and directions. This is the first time I have tried any sort of lash growth product.  My fingers are crossed!  "Green eyed lady, lovely lady..."  Thanks for reading.  Bye for now.

Red lipstick

Are you one of those lucky women that looks good wearing red lipstick?  I've longed to rock this look since the days of Robert Palmer's video vixens. I have tried various shades and brands of red lipstick to give it a fair shake. I have even tested each shade again when my hair color changes. The verdict is simple. Nope, can't do it!  Apparently, the shade depends on one's skin tone, but I still look like death warmed over in every red shade I have sampled. Um, pretty!  They are showing red lips all over the runway.  Since my runway days are LONG gone, I need not worry.  Luckily, many different looks are current, so we ladies just need to find what works for us. Being over forty, I tend what to do what works for me and not what works on a 6'2", size 4, twenty year old model.  We need to feel comfortable in our own skin, not follow a trend just because it's of the moment. However, if you are lucky enough to carry off a pair of bright red lipstick covered lips, sport them proudly. Sing it with me y'all, "might as well face it your addicted to love..."

OPI Road House Blues- review

Is it really true that wild women don't get the blues? My new Fall color Road House Blues by OPI makes this over 40 feel a little trendy and wild. I am a former Midwesterner whose absolute favorite season is Fall. Yes, it's still pushing 90 in Texas, but that doesn't mean a gal can't rock a cool shade in a hot September.

I went looking for a dark shade and I nailed it (get it?) big time! Depending on the light, it can look almost black or very dark navy. It looks perfect with denim. I really love this color! It's from the Touring America Collection. There is a store locator on the OPI website here.  Come nail away, come nail away, come nail away with me.....

Beauty Changes in the Fall

Well, hello all you beautiful people!  I was mulling over changes I make once Fall hits.  OK, living in Texas, it's still in the 80's ( if we are lucky) and 90's on an average day. But, I am good at ignoring this fact. Here is my "it's Fall" checklist:

1.  Hair is officially darker.  At least I can check that off the list.

2.  The Fall closet clean out.  I go through my closet and shoes and what I haven't worn gets donated or burned (kidding!) and I make a list of "wants."

3.  I am a bit of a purse lover. Handbags never care if your butt is big. WHEW! I comb Ebay, Ebags, or any other site that I might be lucky enough to score a deal on one new bag for the season. This year, I purchased a gray satchel bag that will be here in a few days.  I will hug my postman when he delivers it. I got it for a third of the retail price and I'm pretty fired up!

4. I buy a Fall magazine like Bazaar, to see the cool fashions that I am too old (but I am cool with that) for or can't fit into because I am not 6'3" and a size 2!!!!  I enjoy punishing myself. Actually, I am pretty tall, but I just am not lucky enough to look pencilesque.  I enjoy food too much! Crab cake anyone?

5. Switching to darker nail polish.  I have done this forever. It's the one area that I really don't care if it's age appropriate or not.  I LOVE dark polish in hues of purples, plums, navy's that have that black look.  My latest Fall find is Road House Blues by OPI.  It's a very dark Navy and looks great with denim!

Do you change your routine once a new season approaches?  How about some Love and Rockets for your Tuesday?" I don't know what color your eyes are baby, but your hair is long and brown..."Thanks for reading.  Bye for now...

My Bad Hair Week Blues

What is it with we women and our hair? One day it can make you feel on top of the world or the next make you want to shrivel up in a corner or have a tantrum like a 2 year old. The reality is that hair can sometimes make or break someone. It's front page when Jennifer Aniston chops off her locks or another celebrity goes from blonde to brunette. There are days when all the right products and tools on the market, won't give me Kim Kardashian's mane.  Oh heck, I NEVER have Kim Kardashian hair days. When (not if) I win the lottery, I'm getting my very own personal  hair stylist. I can't wait!!!

I go from dark brown to blonde throughout the year with a myriad of shades (some good  and some really not perty!) in between.  We females spend gazillions on products to volumize, de-frizz, tone, shine, straighten, blah, blah, blah. I love longer (no too long) thick, shiny hair that some woman are blessed with or paid for. I also love a trendy, cute style that I would never be able to maintain, but do appreciate on someone else. As soon as I highlight it, I see a magazine ad or someone on TV with gorgeous brunette hair and it makes me want to color it back.  Of course, as soon as I color it dark in the Fall..... I want to lighten up a bit. I am SO predictable, darn it!

My  hair obsession this week, is because I recently broke down and bought a box of color to cover my highlights. The color is very mousy (rodent-like) brown. Time to avoid all cheese loaded traps! Sure it saved me a bundle, but did it really? I am contemplating getting a few highlights to give it some dimension. As an over 40, I have to be careful not to over do it and fry it out. I have been slapping on the coconut oil for extra love. You can read about my coconut oil obsession here.  Are you hair obsessed? Here's to a great hair day for you tomorrow. Sing it with me, " I keep on thinkin about you, Sister Golden Hair surprise." Thanks for reading. Bye for now.....
